The wings that are shown are a museum quality reproduction of Balloon Pilot Wings. The original designer is not known, but the wings came from a collection in Paris and may have been designed and made in that City  This museum quality reproduction is made of Sterling Silver with the letters US gold plated. The silver wing is mounted on a plate which is covered by the wool cloth. These wings were authorized on 29 December 1917.

This wing is cast as was the original and is stamped 925 which means sterling. This is one of an entire series of wings made in the back alleys of Saigon. This is unusual in that it was made as a Senior Door Gunner.
