The Military Aviator Wings were authorized on October 27, 1917 and were to be made on dark blue felt cloth with silver bullion embroidery. The wings that are shown are a museum quality reproduction of wings in Eisenstadt Dallas Style. This wing is shown on page 21 of Charles I. Fitzsimmons book Thirty Years of U.S. Army Pilot Wings 1917 to 1947. This museum quality reproduction is made of Sterling Silver with the letters US gold plated. The four parts of he wing are mounted on a brass plate with the proper wool enclosure.
While WWI Dallas style wings are very rare, the Military Aviator is exceptional rare.
