World War I Balloon Aeronaut Pilot Wing Sterling Silver

The wings that are shown are a museum quality reproduction of Balloon Aeronaut Pilot Wings. The original designer is not known, but the wings came from a collection in Paris and may have been designed and made in that City  This museum quality reproduction is made of Sterling Silver with the letters US gold plated. The silver parts are mounted on a plate which is covered by the wool cloth. These wings were authorized on 29 December 1917.
