Marine Lance Cpl. Joseph R. Giese died January 7, 2011 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedomassigned to 2nd Battalion, 9th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C.; died Jan. 7 in Helmand province, Afghanistan, while conducting combat operations.
